Role Purpose Statement:


To support and deliver initiatives from both the Head Professional & Golf Services Manager, which are linked to Club objectives, agreed leadership, and value behaviours. To take responsibility for the professional delivery and development of all golf service and shop retail requirements and to provide excellent PGA coaching to the membership. To offer support for all golf operation matters where required, and to offer retail support for matters over and above golf. These include our click and collect service, lifestyle sales and cellar products.

To support and be pro-active with the running of competitions, golf societies and corporate golf days.


Main Accountabilities:

Woodcote Park is a thriving country club, for which golf and retail play a major part. This role plays an integral part of delivering this service and strategy with excellence required throughout.
To deliver required standards and targets related to Club retail, both golf and lifestyle.
To deliver and contribute towards coaching plans within the Club, ensuring that PGA standards are maintained, and continued career progression is sought.




Service Delivery/Operations



Help administer competition, golf society and corporate golf days through the effective management of the dedicated full-time resource within Golf Operations, concentrating on quality groups introduced and sponsored by members of the Club.
Attend and participate in Club events, such as new Member evenings, ensuring attendance at the Club during all major tournaments, and acting as an ambassador for the Royal Automobile Club when participating in golf events.
To attend all necessary internal meetings relevant to the position and responsibility.
To work with the Head Professional and Senior Assistant Professional in the creation of, and running of, junior golf initiatives and coaching packages for all members.
Provide PGA coaching to the members both on rostered shop days outside of your contracted shop hours, and on other days in the week.    




To be responsible for all day-to-day aspects of the Club Shop which include lifestyle products as well as golf. To work with the Golf Services Manager in delivering the Club’s Click and Collect service and Online Shopping portal, as well as the physical management of stock on site.


Job Specifics

The Assistant Golf Professional will work 30 contracted hours per week within the Club Shop. This will be split as 6 hours per day, 5 days of the week – any 5 of 7 days to suit the needs of the business.
Flexible working will be required from time to time resulting in additional hours during busy periods, with hours given back during quieter times and off-season periods.
Lessons are expected to be offered outside of the Club Shop hours to both drive member services and fill gaps in lesson packages, new coaching initiatives and to support our proposed Golfing Academy.
The Assistant Golf Professional will receive 75% of their lesson income with 25% retained by the Club.
Club Fitting sessions will be expected of the Assistant Golf Professional, working with our fully trained club fitter.
Tee sheet administration, member customer service, receiving payment for goods, supporting Club retail as well as golf retail, learning and operating the Club’s online click and collect retail business, supporting monthly stocktakes and providing golf operation support are all expected from the role.
Uniform and meals whilst at work are provided.

Qualifications & Training

(Measured through P.G.A. membership status)



Fully qualified by the Professional Golfers Association.

Maintaining required number of CPD points to retain AAT membership status.

Self-development management programmes.

First Aid registered.

Fire Warden trained.

GCMA or CMAE Training

Proven experience of working in a Golf Professional Shop and private members’ club.

Quality focused.



Experience in leading coaching programmes.

Working with club fitting and flightscope software.

Skills and Abilities
