About the Royal Automobile Club:

The Royal Automobile Club was founded in 1897 and its distinguished history mirrors that of motoring itself. In 1907, King Edward VII awarded the Club the Royal title that it still holds to this day, sealing the Club's status as Britain’s oldest motoring organisation. The Club's early years were focused on promoting the motor car and its place in society.

Today, the Club continues to prosper with a diverse membership of 17,000, two stunning and unique clubhouses in London and near Epsom, a flourishing events programme and superb accommodation, dining, sports and event facilities.

The Club continues to develop and support motoring through its promotion of motoring events and representation on Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and the RAC Foundation.

We also arrange some 80 motoring events per year covering touring, racing, light-hearted concours, factory visits, film evenings, technical talks and dinners. These include the 1,000 Mile Trial and the RAC Rally of the Tests. In November each year we hold nearly 30 events in London Motor Week, culminating in the Regent Street Motor Show and the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, the world’s longest-running motoring event.

The Club is also involved in major international sports car and historic motor racing, awarding the Tourist Trophy since 1905. We manage some of the finest historical motoring and related awards, including the Segrave Trophy, the Torrens Trophy, the Dewar Trophy and the Simms Medal.
